Just looking to get a bottle of the Elf juice and I see the 5w30 Evolution Full-Tech seems to come in either C3 or C4 flavours.

What do the bottles you chaps were supplied with say?

Anybody know what's the difference? Without getting too technical.

C4 is the grade but I believe the RN0720 is important. I took the bottle to my local Renault garage who told me it was a low ash oil whatever that means. My local retailer did not stock the exact type and was reluctant to provide me with what his computer stated was an equivalent. He said there are so many specialist engine oils out there that it has become a nightmare.

It is getting proper daft. I looked at the Castro site and they have several 5w30 oils, but when you look for oil suitable for the Kadjar they have none!

I remember a simpler time when all you needed to know was the weight and whether it was synthetic or not.

Heres  a twist on the oil  top up light . Never had the light on ,car has done just over 5000 miles. Took it yesterday for its first service . Brought it home and drove to Edinburgh today , probably around 50 miles since it left the garage . Oil light just came on telling me to top up oil . Cant check just now so will check in the morning for level . Very confused they didnt change the oil but if it had dropped they were supposed to have topped it up .  Phone call tomorrow I think.

No its a 1.5 diesel . Never had any bother with anything ,besides 1 recall . Then take it in yesterday ,24 hours later oil warning light . Dont think they changed the oil just checked it and made sure it was full.

In Malta due to lots of stop starting and very short trips, the dealer wants to do the first service after 8000 kms or 8 months.

Mine is 3 weeks old and only 393 kms on the clock.

@ turboted10 ...I think a score in the eighties is pretty good . I don't think you'll get much better than out without hacking off every other road user . I once got it up to 100 in the early hours of the morning with no traffic about . I was ahead of schedule so I lazily cruised to my destination , I would have had other road users pulling their hair out at any other time of day :) .

I take very little notice of the gear change advice . Due to the undulating nature of my area , as soon as I follow the advice me to change up it's telling me to change back down . So I tend to hold on to a gear a little  longer than it would like .
