rear fog light problem - strange behavior

Hi,

I am new to this forum and seeking help for a specific issue. I am also wondering if somebody else encountered this.

When wanting to use the rear fog light, it will only work if I don't do the following:

  • Put in reverse gear, which starts back camera
  • Detect a nearby object via the surround sensors

Upon activating one of the above the rear fog light is disabled and I cannot get it to work any longer. The indicator on the dashboard is also turned of.

The only way to have this work again is to restart the car.

Before I go to my dealer, I want to be sure that I didn't mess up the settings of the car.

Kind regards,

Johan

Isn't it supposed to work like that?  IE if switched on and you reverse the light goes out to prevent glare to the camera. I would expect it to engage again when you drove away.

If you are saying you switch it on and reversing switches it off permanently forget what I've said.

I don't know and haven't checked as I don't have a camera but it sounds logical that at maneuvering speeds in reverse it turns off automatically but only temporarily.

Hi turboted10,

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I can’t find any logic in this error pattern.

I have made an appointment with the dealer to get this fixed.

hopefully they can resolve it.

kind regards,

Johan
