Somehow I understand... "Baba"  means in my language "old woman" but used as an irreverent way to address.  But AOne is right: I do not understand any  Slavic languages at all.

The info is from a guy working at Renault design center from my country. Maybe you know but Kadjar was designed by a Romanian at Renault Design Central Europe  from Bucharest. I posted the info because it was interesting and maybe somebody will confirm it.

You have reached **** **** and I will be assisting you with your query regarding your Sat Nav Map Update.

I can confirm that there is indeed a new Software Version for the R-Link 2 that will make it compatible with the latest Maps.

We are updating our customer's systems in batches, once we get to your batch we will inform how you can update. I can also confirm this is a free update.

Meanwhile, kindly send us the name of the Dealership you usually visit and their contact details (since this update needs to be performed at a Dealership).

I can confirm that I will contact you by email once it is time to update your batch.

Well I had firmware done at dealers 2 weeks ago no problem and then I downloaded and updated

my own Maps But there is NO 2017 maps available  only maps available are 2016 !!!

Hi Buder ok sorry mate so the latest is we will get 2017 maps in nov / dec then correct ??

by the way where did this onfo come from please and where in the world are you please ?

could be right for your country but not for the UK........but i don't Know anyway

😀 Don't worry. Obviously English is not my first language so I make a lot of mistakes. I assume that my posts are not easy to be understood but sometimes the info is really interesting... 

I am from Bucharest were is located an important Renault design center. Here Kadjar was designed. My info is not from Renault but from a guy who works (outsourcing) for them. So, even though all the info from this guy were 100% true, each time when I post here I start with "some say" just to mark it like an "unofficial info". Ok? 

I already have some bad news but I will be back in a few days. I want to check then first.

Had a call from Renault Connected Services after I complained 12 months ago. They arranged for local (25 miles) dealer to do the job. Dealer insists on having car for a whole day (OK I have loan car but would prefer to wait). On first visit it failed - Renault UK couldn't help so went to Renault France. Took 5 days to hear now have solution. So another full day yesterday looks to have made changes - I get text on digital as matter of course! The software realease is 2.2.18.590 and navigation is 9.12.80.689874 but I don't know what they mean. Dealer had no idea what had been updated.

OK. I am not able to confirm these info.

1. Specialists working on software development for 2.x firmware were drastically reduced. 

2. The new 2018 Kadjar will have a new nav system with portrait screen. Basically,  Renault want to have just 2 versions, one for "cheap" cars and one for the other cars. 

3. The November or December update will be the last for 2.x models. 

4. Everything can be a little late as usually is happening.

RENAULT is a very popular car brand in Europe, which aims to become the world leader ( They want to stay in the future too !!!!). Updating the System R-LINK 2 must be extended to all equipped vehicles, regardless of model, which are still under warranty. Will Renault cancel the support for warranty cars?  It is interesting idea.  It seems Renault does not  listen to its customers. They will lose a lot of customers if they take support withdrawal. It is not acceptable.

Yes, you are right. I understood that it will be the last major update for 2.x. and not the last one at all.

The support for cars under warranty will not be cancelled. They will keep the car working "as it was at the moment you bought it". 

I assume that this update will solve the problem of map update. If so, the main issue will be solved. They are not interested in solving our requests for better nav or Android Auto.

Well, not only Kadjars in question... A bunch of Meganes, Scenics, Espaces also. R-Link2 is same, no matter of display. As I can see from print-screen; functions are there, just not enabled (either from commercial reasons or lack of hardware). But excuse that CarPlay/Android auto is not possible because USB is not capable of charging device is BS. Connect iPhone as iPod device and report weather charged or not...

Well I've just had a call out of the blue from my dealership to book me in for a firmware update, they apparently had a call from Renault services (the guy I'd been dealing with Bruno) saying they were sending details on how to install the update to their technician.

I haven't been in touch with him/them since I last complained about 5/6 months ago, To be honest I'd all but given up hope on the update lol.

I've just emailed him asking  if he knows anything about the update.

His reply.

According to my information the improvements for the latest R-Link 2 Software are as follows:

- Real Time Traffic Information - Data refresh improved
- DAB text information correction
- Map Update - It will be possible to download a new map after the new software is installed.

Don't mean to put a damper on things but I've just been through the same process.

Spent a full afternoon at the dealers whilst they tried unsuccessfully to upgrade the firmware following Renault Services instructions.

Car is going back in next month for  up to 3 days whilst they try to upgrade the firmware for what will be the third attempt.

I'm not expecting a better outcome.

I got an email from renault connected services telling me to take it to the dealers to update the software so I could download latest map well I say latest still over a year old booked car in and after 5 hours received call to pick car up to be told they haven' updated it as it only applies to certain chassis numbers will not have any car that has r link again bag of crap from day 1

I still remember my 2008 Scenic. It was equipped with Carminat BT CD. The last ever update for this system was 2011. Three years - that's how long the support lasted. And nothing more. Just to mention, the infotainment  system was really gоod as for a '08 model.

Well if they start playing that game, I'll tell them to forget the update, I've got around 15 months to go before I change again & it won't be another Renault.
