Hi Everyone. Is it possible to replace the Kadjar r-link 2 system with the Captur r-link system. As I understand it the Kadjar system is supposed to be the latest system.

On the Captur the radio dab signals were brilliant. The maps were 2016 and I had two updates in one year. My phone always connected as soon as I started the car.

On the Kadjar the radio dab signal is constantly lost even when stationary. The maps are 2015 with no indication of future updates. My phone which is the same phone I had with the Captur connects when the Kadjar feel like it.

Renaults future technology has gone backwards.

Cheers guys and gals.

Seriously doubt it without some difficult hurdles...The r-link 2 also controls what you see on the digital displays behind the steering wheel.. did the captur have the same interface? The second question is would it be plug and play... all the right connectors? And thirdly would Renault approve the reassignment and service you with updates? ... unlikely.
Sorry to be the doom merchant, would love to get rid of the bloody thing myself.

Hi 1964.Thank you for your insight. I forgot about the dash display which is completely different to the Captur. The drive and comfort of the Kadjar is superior to the Captur. Renault just need to sort out their technology issues. Don't keep fobbing off their customers that it needs an update. Picked up the car May 2017 and the maps were already two years out of date and the radio is pants. This is supposed to be a hands free technology and I am constantly having to look at the display and reset the dab station. Rant over.!!!!!!!

I have just had a brain wave. If Renault are struggling with the software and firmware perhaps they should update their technical staff to people who can overcome the problem.

You could always float that idea to the bloke in charge. You can bet he's not got one in his car

Renault announced months ago that they will hire 300 IT specialists to solve these problems.

Unofficial they will come with something (some say that just a map update from 06.2015 to 09.2015) but in December or for sure next year.

Hi Buder. Renault also said that there would be regular map updates before they had any problems. Perhaps the new 300 It specialist will take as long as the updates to arrive.

I have heard that Renault has announced that the Easter bunny will get an update.

Everyone with a twitter / Facebook accounts should bombard Renault UK and Carlos Ghosn with their issues, or we start a organised campaign on twitter where we just repeat the same tweet to Renault UK everyday, just need something simple that is repeated , bad advertising is never good for a company it might actually spur them on to do something about it ..

" Due to major bugs and lack of map updates with the Renault Kadjar R-Link2 system, please can I have a definitive date when these will be fixed and the unit fully operational as advertised "

The above is good for Facebook , would need to be edited for twitter ...

@renault_uk Nice self promotion now sort out all the Kadjar rlink2 issues, maps updates, make your existing customers happy

Latest from R-Link (non)Helpline

Dear,

My apologies for the lack of information, but we are not given any details regarding the upcoming update. We are never given a release date nor what may be in the update. Once the update is released, then we are given a breakdown of what it will fix. So once the update is made available we can tell you what it contains.

Truly sorry we are unable to provide more detailed information.

We are also expecting new map releases, but once again the situation is the same with no information that we can forward on to you. And please do not worry about your free map update subscription expiring, before the map release date. Because we will be taking all customers like yourself into consideration for the next map release. So you will be entitled to update the next map for free, even if your map subscription has expired.

All new R-Link's from May 2017 onwards have minor modifications to it, that unfortunately we are told cannot be retrofitted.

My sincere apologies once again for the lack of information. But once the updates start appearing we will be in a better situation to give you more information.

If you have any further doubts or queries, please let me know.

Kind regards,
