  1. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

These were all speculations at the time and perhaps wrong info from r-link customer helpline people. The specs are definitely very similar in both units and can't forget that android has been activated on older r-link 1 units.
  2. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

Italians and Spanish forums are delving into the recently discovered developer mode and making some headway. Currently what we know so far - both R-link ver 3.3x and 2.2x run Android 4.0.4 and both have 1GB ram and 1Ghz CPU. There's no hardware issue to have android auto but I believe there is a hardware barrier to apple carplay. I feel like there will be significant progress in the coming weeks for a quick and easy modification to add android auto (without all the ECU and ddt4all tinkering) - I imagine a tutorial will be out which can make it as easy as it is currently for the Mazda owners

You also have legal rights to return within 14/30 days if you're not happy with it in any way. I'm not completely sure of this but if it was registered this month (3/18) then it should be in this time frame. Did you get it direct from a Renault dealer?
  4. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

Return it saying you were mis sold an older version.
  5. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

So this thread is primarily about getting Android auto/Apple carplay on pre May 2017 kadjars which currently isn't possible by official or unofficial means. This "news" by Renault doesn't actually seem anything new. More promises about improving after sales support. It seems like they're adding this Renault connect feature to new cars with r-link 2 version 3.x (post May 2017). They also said they *plan* to bring this to older cars via some hardware upgrade. Tbh we all know we don't need any new hardware when cars like the 2016 clio/megane and the 2014 Koleos can run Android auto so it really is just Renault not investing any time in coming up with a software fix. Best hope is still independent developers getting an update or tweak for r-link 2 version 2.x (pre-May)
  6. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

Have you spot any update to these efforts? I've seen some posts on planeterenault forum - one guy attempted to "activate" the CarPlay and AAP but no luck on R-Link 2
  7. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

This you should be able to return if it actually isn't the car model and spec you ordered. Call up dealer they gave you old stock.
  8. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

This is not too bad I think there is considerably more difficulty in getting this enabled on the R-Link 2 as it's a newer system compared to R-link 1 (tighter restrictions maybe). They're both Android based though. I think given some time it will be possible but just depends on if people are willing to bypass Renault and install this mod. It will definitely solve all the woes of using the R-link outdated sat nav maps. Thats why I'm not bothering with the R-link 2.18xxx etc. it's all just minor updates compared to having Android auto.
  9. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

Let me know how the search goes on the Romanian forums - When I asked him last he said he still figuring out a way to enable android auto on the Kadjar R-Link 2 system.
  10. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

He has it enabled on the Kadjar predecessor - Koleos 2014 with R-Link Very impressive - it seems its more difficult on R-Link 2
  11. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

It seems like they managed to get it enabled on french forums here: http://www.forum-auto.com/marques/renault/sujet63364-10605.htm but the Scenic they enabled it on was already R-link 2 ver 3.xx which is just getting around renault intentionally disabling it on those vehicles.
  12. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

What about the SPVR? it seems like its not present in r-link 2 to activate. If you go to update the R-link firmware then maybe it might not be possible to make alterations to the new version 2.18xxx
  13. Smartphone mirroring in pre-May vehicles

Officially I think there is no hope getting Renault to add this feature. I have also been in touch with servicerenault2017 and his video demonstrations on YouTube are very impressive as he's managed to get android auto on the old megane R-link gen 1 and the Clio 2016 mediaNav system. There is some hope and he said he's currently trying to get it working on kadjars r-link 2.x system when I emailed him last. I just think r-link 2 is a bit more secured so will take time.
  14. Theres no RCA input in kadjar - can see in the post in this forum some guy took pics http://www.foroclub.es/kadjar/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1256&start=580
  15. R link firmware

So there hasn't been any info on what this "new update" will contain - was looking for any mention of android auto or smartphone mirroring really - I know even with an update the renault nav is going to be sub-par. It will still be good to get an update and see how a full software update looks to explore if any tweaking is possible.
