    Word of warning about stalling

Final definition. Car will not start until the speed drops to exactly 6mph Pressing the start doesn't affect anything, the above stands, it will restart at 6mph provided clutch is kept depressed S/S on, S/S off? no effect. Wanting to explain this to myself I took off to a quiet lane near me, tried all that and there are the results.

    Awful paint quality

I think it being red explains it. Only going by what's been put on here before but it seems it's a pearlescent white base coat with a clear red lacquer. Probably just the lacquer coat that's chipped. I too have heard it's very awkward to repair, Mine, also red somehow got a minute chip, only 1mm on the top of one wing at about a month old, touched up with red VX paint just to stop water getting under the laquer. No further chips at 20 plus months old and early one not noticeable only by touch, and luckily still the only "mark" on the car. I don't however do much motorway or high speed dual carriageway driving in heavy traffic so risks from grit and gravel are lessened. I think it's probably extremely hard and brittle rather than thin, that 1mm chip left a minor crater.

Same here. Engine restarted automatically. By the way, the start-stop function is awesome in traffic jams. Can't understand why it is hated so much... Probably, Ted instinctively tried to restrat from the button and it stopped the engine. Than the car got confused and didn't want to start again unless it's halted. Might be some safety issue.

    Word of warning about stalling

Restarting after a stall isn't as quick as pre-electronic era manuals though, I could do it so fast back then that nobody who wasn't in the car with me would ever have known. Sadly, that few extra seconds now makes it obvious!

    Word of warning about stalling

This has happened to me in similar circumstances (Manual 1.6 SS on) , the dash flashed "depress clutch" - I did so and the engine restarted without needing to press the start button. I was still moving at ~10 mph.

Just thought auto start was the same not noticed the speed when it was activated. It’s a good tool knowing that when you stall it will restart ...
